Godaddy.com VP Caught Bidding Against Others In Domain Auctions
So, news has come up that Godaddy.com’s VP has been bidding against others in domain auctions. He did this, of course, to bring the price up, forcing others to pay more. Guess I’m not going to be hosting my domain there. I mean, who knew Godaddy.com was in that much trouble that it had to stoop to this?
I, along with many others, find this quite repulsive, but also a bit funny. It’s just sad. I *almost* feel pity on Godaddy.com.
Happy Sunday, everybody!
No commentsFirefox 3 Officially Passes The 20 Million Download Mark
So, what can I say about Firefox 3. Nothing much because I think the number pretty well speaks for itself.
No commentsAtari Trys To Suppress Bad Reviews By Sueing Certain Review Sites
So, apparently Atari is trying suppress bad reviews of its new game, Alone in the Dark. Now if you can remember back to when Jeff Gerstmann reviewed Kane and Lynch: Dead Men harshly and he was fired soon after. Some speculated that his harsh review was the reason. I forgot to mention that at the time of his bad review, the review site, gamespot.com had a huge ad deal with the maker of Kane and Lynch game. So, there’s some speculative evidence.
Okay, there’s no hiding that Atari is in some financial trouble. They need a successful game, and I’m sure that they were thinking that Alone in the Dark could be that game. So, a few sites apparently “received” a pre-release version of the game. No one knows how exactly. Atari is arguing that they shouldn’t review an “unfinished” game. Of course, that’s in their opinion. It could be just a cover up to shield the fact that their game really, really sucks. Since all of this hubba about ad deals and reviews, I’ve really lost faith in review sites. Especially, gamespot.com. I no longer trust that site since Jeff Gerstmann was “fired,” and Greg Kasavin left. It’s given two 10s(on a scale of 1-10) in this year alone. It’s only given two 10s before that since its creation. In the end, I think it’s the consumers who have lost out. No longer can you check a review site for an objective, unbiased opinion of a game.
What a shame…
No commentsGuru3D.com reviews the new ATI Radeon 4850
Yes! It’s finally here. Yeah, I know, I’m the only one who was anticipating this.
This is a 20 page review and it is very in depth. So, here’s the low-down on the 4850.
It’s only going to cost $199, but will be packed with over a billion transistors and 800 stream processors. It doubles the performance of the 3850 and costs only 200 bucks. You can’t beat that.
This should be a leg up on Nvidia, who has its new product line coming out that will cost upwards of 400 dollars. ATI will have the advantage, it seems, in this fight.
No commentsFirefox 3 has now surpassed 9.4 million downloads
Holy crap, this thing is flying off their server! Firefox 3’s market share has gone from 0% to around 8% in less than 24 hours. That’s crazy. I don’t know about you, but I think Internet Explorer should be shaking in it’s boots. Firefox 3 is surely a force to be reckoned with.
*UPDATE #2* Firefox 3 now has 17.1 million downloads. Just wow.
No commentsInternet Explorer 7 team sends the Firefox team a cake…again
So, once again the IE guys have continued the tradition of sending them a cake when they ship a major release. The first time they did it when Mozilla released Firefox 2.0, I thought it was like “Hah, good job on sending it, but you will be no match for IE7!” I’m sure that now, they really mean it in a good way. Mostly because Firefox has been gobbling up their market share for a while.
I think it was a very good gesture from the IE guys.

Firefox 3 surpasses 7.6 million downloads!
The Mozilla guys were aiming for 5 million and look how many they’ve gotten now. I can happily say that I contributed to this by downloading it once. You still have until 2:30 p.m CT today to help set the record, I believe.
No commentsNew Nvidia GTX280 Video Card Benchmarked
I thought I’d get back to the news after the small site updates. So, anyway, the new Nvidia GTX280 should come out later this year…hopefully. But, I found the results to be very impressive.
No commentsAJAX Added To The Website. Woo!
I’ve recently been doing some work to get AJAX working on all parts of the site. For the most part, I’ve succeeded, or at least I think I have. Lets just say it’s not the most noticeable difference. I hope it enhances your web surfing experience!
