Apple May Ditch Intel Chipsets for Nvidia or VIA (*Rumor*)

July 30th, 2008 | Category: General Computers

Some close sources to Apple, whatever that means, say that they want to seperate themselves from competitors. They also have “state-of-the-art” products on the way that will “catch competitors off-guard.” This could be a bunch of bologna, but can’t help but speculate.

These two low-power processors are both vying for the spot on many UMPCs (Ultra-Mobile Personal Computers) and so it’s very important which one performs better and which one consumes less power. The benchmark results are surprising, so I highly encourage you to read the review.

July 30th, 2008 | Category: General Computers

Cuil.com is a “new” type of search engine that boasts it has 3 times more websites logged than Google, which is debatable. But, nonetheless, competition in any market is always a good thing. So, drop by Cuil when you have a chance.

BFG Technologies Announces New Nvidia Video Cards

July 30th, 2008 | Category: General Computers

Today, BFG, a major retailer of Nvidia video cards, announced it would be selling: Nvidia Geforce 9800 GT, 9800 GT OC, and 9500 GT. The 9800 GT is the much-anticipated follow-up to the massively successful Nvidia Geforce 8800 GT. The 9500 GT, on the other hand, is a chance for Nvidia to get more market share in the low to mid-range graphics market. We do know that the 9500 GT will sell for under $100. We’re not sure about the price of the 9800 GT and GT OC. Here’s to hoping that the 9800 isn’t just an 8800 repackaged!

Microsoft’s latest, shameless attempt to promote Vista

July 30th, 2008 | Category: General Computers

Microsoft somehow finds it necessary to “trick” people into thinking they’re using the “newest” version of Windows called “Mojave.” In reality, it’s actually Vista. Thanks to all these willing “subjects” who apparently are incompetent at best, Microsoft now has little sound-bites that project how easy it is to find calculator in Vista. For god sake, is it really that hard to find calculator? About 3 or so of the subjects Microsoft interviewed thought using the windows search to find calculator with typing in only “calc” was a major breakthrough.

I’ll let you judge for yourselves if there’s any scientific method behind this. Microsoft doesn’t need to promote Vista. It’s main buyer is business. They’ll buy it regardless of what a middle-aged women says about “Mojave.” Here’s the proof that Vista is amazing!

July 29th, 2008 | Category: General Computers

BusinessWeek.com is reporting that Apple may revamp their entire line of laptops with Multi-Touch screens.
